I mentioned a while ago (was it a week, maybe two weeks? Who knows, time is going so fast right now…) that I was entering the ‘Wish You Where Here’ maritime photography competition. I’m the most indecisive person ever (fact) so I need a little bit of help deciding which picture to enter into the competition, so with the mighty power of WordPress I though I would let you all decide for me! As an example of how indecisive I am, I struggled to decide which images to include in this poll…
The theme is maritime Britain, and the picture should represent Britain’s relationship and history with the sea. Here’s the pictures I’m thinking of entering:
Use the ‘other’ option if you think any of these pics could be changed to make them better, e.g. converting them to B&W. Thanks for your help guys, hope you like the pics
This is a shot I’m entering into another competition, the subject is coffee and I wanted to enter something that was a little bit different. I messed around with the contrast and the vibrance and managed to bring out the colour in the otherwise grey shadow which I think give the picture an interesting difference. Hope you like!
I’m posting this picture for the Digital Photography School weekly photography challenge. The topic is white so I thought this was pretty appropriate for the competition. The picture was taken a few days before Christmas at the church yard over the back from my flat in Leith. It was taken on my phone so it’s surprisingly good quality considering (I did fix it up a bit in Photoshop though). I’m going to stop looking at it now because it’s making me feel cold….
Amateur photographer announced their monthly categories for this years Amateur Photographer of the Year competition. The first round, shooting trees, opened on the 5th of February, with the closing date on the 25th and results announced on the 26th. The prizes this year are awesome. Admittedly, I don’t know much about cameras, but 1st prize of the Canon EOS 60D seems pretty nice, not to mention the fact that it, plus the EF-S 18-55mm lens (Canon’s standard lens) that comes with it are worth about £1,300! With second and third place prizes of a Canon Powershot SX30 IS and the Canon IXUS 210 (you would never guess it’s sponsored by Canon would you?) it’s well worth entering.
Here’s the link with more details of the competition and how to enter, rules etc:
I’ve entered the picture below into the comp, it was taken at Edinburgh Zoo in November a couple of years ago. I was there with my younger brother and my girlfriend (she’s the ghostly figure in the bottom right) for my brothers 10th birthday. I really like this picture because it was a great day, my little brother loved the zoo (despite just about jumping out his skin when a tiger surprised him). Although it looks nice it was quite cold, and about half an hour later it started raining, which tells you a lot about Scottish weather. Still it’s a nice pic, enjoy.
